Open Access Membership

In order to use the workshop facilities on an Open Access basis, you must be over 18 years of age and become a Member of screen-Art.

Membership is £50 a year, £33 for six months or £15 a day plus an hourly fee to use the workshop.

To become a Member:

1 - If you are new to the technique, please be aware that you may need to take two or more courses before you are confident enough to work alone in the studio.

2 – If you are experienced in the medium, you are required to have an Induction - £30. We will ask you to bring examples of your work so we can see the techniques you are experienced in using. The induction will include instruction on the use of the Exposure unit. Members need to be confident enough to work in screen-Art independently, without tutor support. During Open access sessions, there is always a staff member in the bip-Art studio for the sale of materials and general enquiries.

• Individuals must have signed the General Rules and Health & Safety form before commencing work in the studio. During Open Access sessions, there is always a staff member available for the sale of materials & general enquires, in the bip-Art studio.

COVID-19 rules

Masks – Please bring a mask to wear when you are in the studio. As we are only taking limited numbers of artists in the studio, you should be able to remain at a distance from the other people so we will not be enforcing a mask wearing policy for your whole session. If you are working in an area on your own or are the only person in the room, you do not have to wear a mask. However, if you are talking to someone, walking through the studio or if there are other people in the same area, we will expect you to wear a mask, unless you are exempt.

Gloves - We have our boxes of powder free, disposable gloves in every room and encourage you to use them. We are aware that some people prefer to print without gloves so ask that you frequently wash your hands with the Anti-bacterial soap. As we use White Spirit to clean up, we are confident that the printing surfaces will be germ free. For the tables and press handles, we have an Anti-bacterial spray and blue paper towels so please feel free to wipe the surface as often as you feel you need to.

To adhere to the current COVID-19 guidance, we have the following rules in place:

1 - Only come to the studio, if you are feeling well and have shown no signs of the virus in the last 14 days.

2 - Do not attend the studio, if somebody in your household or someone you have been in contact with, has the virus or is showing signs of the virus, within the last 14 days.

3 - If possible, please avoid taking public transport to travel to the studio. Please walk, cycle, drive or get a lift, if you do not have access to your own transport.  Our parking situation remains the same and is still on a first come, first served basis so you may have to pay for on street parking, if the car park is full. You can park at the Marina for free.

If you do need to use public transport, please try to touch as little as possible while on your journey and respect the distancing rules to avoid bringing germs into the workshop.

4 - On arrival at the studio, please immediately wash your hands using the anti-bacterial handwash.

5 - Please keep two meters away from the other people in the workshop at all times. If you need to walk through the workshop to the sink, office, paper cutter, drying boards and so forth, please communicate your intention verbally or visually, if you need to pass another person in the room. Please ensure the other person has acknowledged your presence and has moved to a safe distance before you pass.

6 - Do not approach Staff members or enter the office, please respect the two metre rule.

7 - If you are booked into an Open Access session but feel unwell on the day, please email or ring us to cancel. We will hold your missed session as credit for you to attend on a different day.

8 - Please provide us with your mobile number, in case we need to cancel you at short notice. We will be adhering to the above rules too and will only attend, if we are well and show no symptoms of the virus.

9 - We reserve the right to refuse access, if on arrival, you are visibly unwell or coughing. We reserve the right to ask you to leave, if you are unable to adhere to the above safety rules.

While we will do our best to clean and sterilise the communal areas and to keep the studio as safe as we can, we emphasise that you enter at your own risk.

Thank you, we appreciate your co-operation and look forward to seeing you in the studio.
